Position Overview

Concentric Corporation is partnering with a growing commercial construction organization to identify an experienced Project Accountant to support the financial operations of active construction projects.

This role works closely with accounting, project management, vendors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure accurate billing, payments, financial reporting, and project documentation. The ideal candidate brings hands-on commercial construction accounting experience and understands the unique accounting requirements associated with managing construction projects from a financial perspective.

Location: St. Louis, MO | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly owner billings in partnership with Project Managers
• Process subcontractor payment applications, material invoices, and general project expenses
• Review accounting entries to ensure accurate and timely posting
• Record and verify accounts payable transactions
• Reconcile accounts payable aging reports with vendor statements
• Research and resolve invoice, payment, and credit discrepancies
• Collect, review, and maintain subcontractor and supplier lien waivers
• Submit required lien waiver documentation to project owners
• Maintain and reconcile corporate credit card statements
• Assist with financial statements, supporting schedules, and business activity reports
• Support annual budgeting, tax preparation, and audit activities
• Assist with an accurate and timely month-end close
• Maintain complete and accurate project accounting records and documentation
• Serve as an accounting resource for project teams, clients, vendors, subcontractors, and lenders
• Prepare project and accounting reports as needed
• Partner with accounting and project management teams to resolve financial or documentation issues throughout the project lifecycle
  
  
  

Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction accounting experience required
• Experience supporting commercial construction projects
• Hands-on experience preparing and managing owner billings
• Experience processing subcontractor payment applications
• Working knowledge of construction accounts payable and project-related expenses
• Experience collecting, reviewing, and maintaining lien waivers
• Experience supporting month-end close, tax preparation, and audit activities
• Experience with Vista Viewpoint required
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial documentation
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities
• Effective communication skills with the ability to work across accounting, project management, vendors, subcontractors, and clients
  
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Commercial construction accounting experience
• Experience working directly with Project Managers on project financials
• Experience supporting multiple construction projects simultaneously
• Familiarity with financial statements, supporting schedules, and business activity reporting
