Senior Accountant
Position Overview:
Concentric Corporation is partnering with a well-established organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to support advanced accounting functions, financial reporting, compliance, and audit coordination. This role plays a key leadership position within the accounting team, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong internal controls across financial operations.
The Senior Accountant will take ownership of the month-end and year-end close processes, oversee fixed asset and tax reporting activities, and serve as a key resource during audits. This position is ideal for an analytical, solution-oriented professional who values integrity, organization, and collaborative teamwork.
This role can be based in Columbus, Nebraska or Omaha, Nebraska.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes including journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and supporting schedules
- Analyze financial variances and provide detailed explanations to leadership
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
- Record monthly depreciation and amortization entries
- Monitor sales tax transactions and supporting documentation
- Review and approve sales tax returns prior to filing
- Prepare and file annual reports including personal property tax, 1099 reporting, unclaimed property, and business licenses
- Monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and strengthen internal controls
- Assist with annual financial audits and serve as a liaison to external auditors
- Prepare audit schedules and provide required documentation
- Support insurance claim documentation and tracking as needed
- Provide guidance and support to AP/AR team members when questions arise
Work Environment:
- Onsite role in Columbus, NE or Omaha, NE
- Collaborative accounting team environment
- Mix of independent financial analysis and cross-department communication
- Structured monthly and annual reporting cycles
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
- Three to five years of progressive accounting experience, flexible based on background
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP or accounting software systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Supervisory or informal leadership experience
- Experience supporting AP/AR teams in a mentoring capacity
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as Epicor, Biztrack, or Microsoft Dynamics GP
- Experience participating in audit processes
- Comfortable operating in a hands-off leadership style without micromanagement
