Outside Sales Representative – Red Lodge Territory
Position Overview:
A growing organization in the construction materials industry is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to develop and grow business within the Red Lodge territory. This role is focused on building strong customer relationships, driving new business, and managing projects from initial bid through completion.
This is a relationship-driven sales role requiring an established network and the ability to generate business independently. The ideal candidate brings an existing book of business and thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Location: Red Lodge, MT (Onsite with Local Travel)
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, builders, and industry partners
• Generate new business through prospecting, networking, and existing relationships
• Manage a personal book of business and grow revenue within the assigned territory
• Prepare and present bids, proposals, and quotes to customers
• Assist customers with product selection, pricing, and technical specifications
• Read and interpret plans, layouts, and project documents
• Conduct job site visits to ensure project accuracy and customer satisfaction
• Coordinate orders, deliveries, and timelines with internal teams
• Track project progress and maintain consistent communication with customers
• Ensure projects meet profitability targets and company standards
• Utilize CRM tools to track pipeline, activity, and customer interactions
• Represent the organization at local industry events and community functions
Work Environment:
• Primarily office-based with local travel within the Red Lodge territory
• Approximately 15% field time and 85% in-office coordination and sales activity
• Collaborative environment with internal sales support and operations teams
Qualifications:
• Minimum of three years of outside sales experience in construction materials or a related industry
• Proven ability to generate new business and manage client relationships
• Required: Existing book of business with a minimum of $1M–$1.5M in annual revenue
• Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and project cycles
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications
• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Self-motivated with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with plan take-offs and estimating
• Project management experience within construction or building materials
• Familiarity with local market, contractors, and building codes
• Experience using CRM systems such as HubSpot
