Position Overview:

A growing technology and infrastructure organization is seeking a Lead Technician to oversee structured cabling installations across nationwide projects. This role is responsible for leading field crews, coordinating job site activities, and ensuring high-quality execution of cabling systems in a variety of environments.

 

The Lead Technician will play a key role in managing day-to-day operations on site, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced technician who enjoys leading teams, traveling, and working hands-on in the field.

 

Location: Nationwide Travel (Remote / Field-Based)

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise installation crews on structured cabling projects across multiple locations
• Plan and coordinate daily job site activities to ensure project timelines and deliverables are met
• Perform and oversee cable installation including pulling, termination, labeling, testing, and troubleshooting
• Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical documentation
• Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and field teams
• Ensure all work meets quality standards, safety requirements, and project specifications
• Troubleshoot installation issues and provide solutions in real time
• Maintain accurate documentation of work completed and project progress
• Represent the organization professionally on all job sites

 

Work Environment:

• Field-based role with extensive nationwide travel
• Travel required the majority of the year, including extended project assignments
• Hands-on work in a variety of environments including commercial sites, healthcare facilities, and data centers
• Fast-paced, team-oriented environment

 

Qualifications:

• Five or more years of experience in structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, etc.)
• Proven experience leading crews and managing on-site project execution
• Strong understanding of cabling installation standards and best practices
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to coordinate across teams
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to pass background and drug screening
• Ability to read, write, and understand English and distinguish colors

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in healthcare environments or data centers
• Industry certifications related to structured cabling or networking
• Experience working on large-scale or multi-site projects
