Vice President of Referral Development
Position Overview:
Concentric Corporation is partnering with a leading healthcare organization is seeking a Vice President of Referral Development to drive enterprise-wide referral growth, expand market presence, and strengthen strategic partnerships across multiple service lines and geographic markets.
This executive leadership role is based onsite in Lincoln, Nebraska and requires regular travel locally, regionally, and nationally. The Vice President is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive referral growth strategy aligned with organizational capacity, patient access priorities, and financial performance goals.
The successful candidate will lead market expansion initiatives, oversee referral development and admissions leadership teams, and provide executive-level reporting and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a multi-market referral growth strategy aligned with budget and patient access goals
- Identify high-potential referral sources, geographic expansion opportunities, and emerging markets
- Collaborate with executive leadership to prioritize growth areas based on demographics, payer mix, and competitive positioning
- Lead territory planning and ensure each market has a targeted referral development strategy
- Build and sustain relationships with physicians, trauma centers, case managers, payors, and complementary healthcare providers
- Conduct regular on-site visits and outreach to strengthen partnerships and expand referral reach
- Oversee referral tracking systems and CRM reporting to monitor performance and territory optimization
- Establish KPIs and dashboards to track referral growth, service line trends, payor mix, and outreach effectiveness
- Provide regular executive-level updates and strategic recommendations
- Lead and oversee admissions and referral development leadership teams
- Set performance expectations, develop talent, and foster cross-functional collaboration
- Partner with Marketing to align outreach campaigns, communication strategies, and brand positioning
- Represent the organization locally, regionally, and nationally through conferences and industry engagement
- Collaborate with Operations and Clinical leadership to align referral growth with capacity and service delivery
- Contribute to strategic planning, forecasting, and evaluation of new markets or partnerships
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulatory standards including Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and HIPAA
- Monitor referral quality metrics to maintain strong relationships and service excellence
Work Environment:
- Onsite leadership role based in Lincoln, NE
- Regular travel required locally, regionally, and nationally
- Executive-level collaboration with senior leadership and clinical teams
- Mix of strategic planning, relationship development, and team leadership responsibilities
- Flexible schedule required to support referral development activities and events
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, or related field required
- Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum five years of progressive experience in healthcare business development, referral development, physician relations, or market growth
- Minimum three years of leadership experience managing high-performing teams
- Demonstrated success developing and executing enterprise-level referral growth strategies
- Experience building partnerships with physicians, health systems, payors, and community providers
- Strong strategic planning, financial awareness, and healthcare market expertise
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable strategy
- Knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements related to referral activity
- Exceptional communication and executive presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience across acute, post-acute, rehabilitation, or specialty healthcare settings
- Experience leading multi-market growth initiatives
- Familiarity with CRM platforms and referral analytics systems
- Experience presenting to executive committees or boards
